Retail giant Walmart is set to a women’s clothing line that were designed in collaboration with TV host and actress Ellen DeGeneres next month, reports said.
“Adorableness. Is that a word? The biggest inspiration was actually inclusiveness. That’s definitely a word. EV1 promotes kindness and love and diversity. We wanted it to appeal and be available to as many people as possible,” said DeGeneres, referring to her new women’s clothing line.
In her television show, DeGeneres added that the collection will take after her mantra of being kind to one another.
“Plus, it really is adorable,” the TV show, who is currently celebrating her 10th year marriage with model and actress Portia de Rossi, added.
Reports said the clothing line will be available in Walmart on September 10.
“Great design, positivity and inclusion. That’s the inspiration behind our new fashion brand with comedian, TV personality and style-icon, Ellen DeGeneres,” Walmart said in its website.
Walmart, in its website, said they will feature about 60 items that will range from denim and tees to accessories and footwear. The retail giant said this is one of their steps to “establish Walmart.com as a fashion destination.”
“The core of the EV1 collection is denim – an iconic American staple. Designed to be effortlessly stylish, EV1 was inspired by Ellen’s own confidence and optimism,” said Denise Incandela, head of fashion for Walmart eCommerce US, in a report.
Incandela added, “it’s cool, fun and accessible.”
Walmart also assured that the clothing line will be affordable.
“All launch items are priced at $30 or less and are designed to be mixed and matched. The line will also offer a wide range of sizes,” the retail giant said.
Hollywood Reporter said this is not the first time that DeGeneres has ventured into the branding game as she had founded luxe lifestyle company E.D., which offered clothing, home goods, and pet supplies. She also had a partnership with Gap for a kids’ clothing line.
As of this writing, DeGeneres is currently travelling for her very first stand-up show tour in 15 years.
